WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Conference of Mayors President Philadelphia Michael Nutter today issued the following statement about the resignation of Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson:
"On behalf of the nation’s mayors, I commend EPA Administrator Jackson’s service to the cities of America and their residents. She has been a strong and tireless advocate for improving the environment. In particular, I appreciate how closely she has worked with U.S. cities to promote cleaner water through the increased use of green infrastructure and comprehensive planning that will improve our lakes, rivers, and waterways. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the Obama Administration and the new EPA Administrator to improve air quality, support upgrades to water supply systems, use innovative sustainability best practices and support sound science-based environmental strategies to improve the quality of life in our nation's cities."
