Rock Hill recognized as industry leader in sports tourism

ROCK HILL, SC – The Rock Hill/York County Convention and Visitors Bureau along with the City of Rock Hill’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism department was recently announced by SportsEventsMedia Group as one of its 2012 class of Readers’ Choice Award winners.     The Rock Hill/York County CVB and Rock Hill PRT will be listed in the January 2012 issue of SportsEvents that will be released later this month.  The tourism entities will be honored among more than 100 destinations and venues that also received the award.  A complete list of award winners is available online at http://www.sportseventsmagazine.com/2012-readers-choice-awards/.     SportsEvents asked sports event professionals to name the sports commission, convention and visitors bureaus, or sports events venues that they believe display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward the groups they host.  Nominations were received from readers throughout the year, and the top picks were selected based on the results from an online system that registered more than 3,000 votes!  Social media and online voting capabilities played a major role in the response from readers this year.   “We spend a lot of time focusing on personalized customer service, and we often tell our visitors that the notion of Southern Hospitality is a serious matter to us and our local tourism partners,” says Bennish Brown, Executive Director of the CVB.  “We are so grateful for this honor, coming from those we have served, and it is a true endorsement of our tagline that says ‘You’re Welcome’.”     “It is very exciting for us as a community to receive this special designation,” saysCity of Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols.  “This reflects positively on our staff, our facilities, and various stakeholders regarding the many major sports tourism events that we have hosted in the past and will host in the future.”   SportsEvents Media Group, publisher of SportsEvents magazine, is the industry leader in providing products and services designed to connect sports events organizers with sports commissions, CVBs, hotels and other sports events industry suppliers.
